The Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IJPAM) is published by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). It is devoted to original research in all areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics, Statistics and other related areas. It enjoys a good reputation and popularity at the international level. The journal is indexed in the Science Citation Index, Current Contents, Mathematical Reviews, INSPEC Science Abstracts (Part A), Zentralblatt für Mathematik and all the major abstracting services of the world. It has many reputed mathematicians from all over the world on its Editorial Board.
The Academy published Mathematics research articles initially in the Proceedings of INSA. But, considering the large influx of mathematical articles, the need for bringing out a separate journal in this field was felt. As a result of this the Indian Journal of Pure & Applied Mathematics (IJPAM) came into being in January 1970. The journal was quarterly in the beginning but, due to the tremendous growth in the number of articles published, it became a monthly publication from 1973. For various reasons, it was changed to a bimonthly from 2006. It brought out an excellent Platinum Jubilee Special Volume in 2010. Starting 2010, the journal is being co-published quarterly with Springer (India) Pvt. Ltd., and is also available on Springerlink.com. This has resulted in an enhanced visibility of the journal. There is a steady increase in the subscription reflecting the growing popularity and utility of the journal. The ranking of the journal has also gone up. The journal adopted the Online Manuscript Submission, Editorial processing, Review and Tracking with Editorial Manager through Springerlink in April 2010. This has made the processing of the papers fast.
As soon as a paper is accepted, and author proofs are received, they are made available simultaneously at Online First (Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics | Online first articles (springer.com)) and from a dedicated website of the journal at INSA (Indian National Science Academy (insa.nic.in)). These articles are then sold by Springer Nature to anyone who might wish to obtain full access, however, they are freely available from the web-site of INSA. All the issues starting from Vol-I is available at Indian National Science Academy (insa.nic.in).

1. Announcement
Issue based publishing: An experiment for the Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics
This concerns some publication paradigm that we are following from Volume 48, Issue 1 at the Editorial office of the Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics. This is meant to make our readership aware of the constantly evolving practices in electronic publishing worldwide.
To be specific, we propose a new system in publishing the accepted papers online at http://insa.nic.in/UI/journaldetails.aspx?AID=Mg==
The new procedure we adopt is to be called Issue Based Publishing, or IBP for short. This means accepted articles are published online as soon as the corrected proofs are received from the author, complete with all the bibliographic data. Issue based publishing is a departure from the current practice which has eliminated the notion of “several issues” within a fixed volume. Thus typically most journals bring out only one volume per year making the citation to a particular article within that volume somewhat cumbersome. We are going to assign an accepted article to a particular issue as soon as it is available in its final form complete with the information on the particular issue to which it belongs, the DOI number and the page numbers etc. This will greatly help in accessing an article as soon as it is ready, even if an entire issue remains to be completed. Also accessibility of an article and possibility of citing it with full DOI information will be achieved in the shortest possible time.

2. Instructions for the Contributors:
The Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IJPAM) is devoted to original research in all fields of Pure and Applied Mathematics, Statistics and other related areas. It is published bimonthly by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and is also available on its website. Starting 2010, the Journal is being co-published with Springer, and is also available on Springerlink.com.
The authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts online through http://www.editorialmanager.com/ijpa/
Manuscripts (in full or, any substantial part thereof) submitted to IJPAM should not have been submitted for publication elsewhere.
The author must choose a member of the editorial board specialising in an area close to the topic of the paper.
Instructions for preparation of manuscripts is available at www.springer.com/authors. The initial page should contain the title followed by the name(s) of the author(s), full mailing address(es) and email address (es).
The author should provide a short abstract, not exceeding 250 words, summarizing the highlights of the principal findings covered in the paper and the scope of the research. Five or six keywords and phrases should be provided along with the latest American Mathematical Society subject classification available at http://www.ams.org/mathscinet/msc2010.html.
References should be cited in the text by the Arabic numerals in square brackets. List of references should be arranged in the alphabetical order of the author’s last name. Each reference should include the author’s name, title, the abbreviated name of the journal, volume number, (year), page numbers, as in the sample citation given below:
